Sharing expertise within the community
On April 17th, I stepped away from my code to take the stage in Montpellier at the Sylius Community Meetup. It’s always a pleasure to step out of the daily agency routine to share insights with fellow developers about our evolving field.
Sylius 2.0: What changes for us developers
In my talk, I wanted to go beyond a simple feature list. As a Lead Developer, what excites me about Sylius 2.0 is its technical maturity:
- Cleaner, Modern Code: The shift to PHP8 Attributes finally allows us to say goodbye to bulky YAML files. It’s a huge win for daily productivity and readability.
- Twig Hooks & UI: I detailed how moving from Semantic UI to Bootstrap and using Twig Hooks radically simplifies store customization without creating maintenance debt.
- Enhanced UX: By integrating Symfony UX and Live Components, we can now offer ultra-smooth interfaces (like cart updates without page reloads) with minimal JS complexity.
AI: A new playground at ACSEO
The evening was also an opportunity to show how, alongside my colleague Alexandre Haroutunian, we are pushing the boundaries of traditional e-commerce. Through the Atidgo use case, we proved that AI is more than just a buzzword: connected to the Sylius API, it becomes a real sales agent capable of understanding voice messages or recognizing images to streamline ordering.
It was a rewarding evening, supported by the ACSEO team. Many thanks to Emil and the Sylius team for the warm welcome!
